Who am I?
I am Kristie Le, a current sophomore at Tufts University studying Quantitative Economics and Communication/Media Studies. Where am I from? I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia. My enthinicity is Vietnamese, so I moved to Vietnam when I was attending high school. How did you come up with the idea? I did this project as my final project in Art of Digital Storytelling class at Tufts University. I also wanted to experiment more with video production, a field I never really touched since I was more comfortable with photography. I decided to apply both for this project. The idea caught my attention when I was reflecting on my own love and passion for different forms of artistry and I wanted to explore that outside of my own understanding by visiting a painting class at School of Museum of Fine Arts and observing different artists' perspectives on the amount of devotion they put into their artwork and the powerful meanings that motivate them to continue pursuing art. |
What is the most important lesson I've learned?
I've learned lots! I learned that not all ideas will be executed perfectly like how I imagined in my head. It's very important to be able to adapt and be flexible to small changes. In terms of the concept itself, I found it very admirable to see how passionate and serious the students regarded their work although it might not have been the focus of their career. But their concentration and love for art comes from determination to hone the craft they can use to express themselves and convey universal messages. Were there any difficulties I've encountered during the process?
One thing I learned from this challenge was everything should be pre-planned well. You can't expect things to happen both spontaneously and well. Not only did I found time management extremely important in this case, but also I had to be mindful of myself filming others in order to avoid disturbances. Regarding technicalities, I've learned that being behind the camera requires lots of effort. However, over the course, I've learned so much about how to find a good angle for filming, editing techniques and the importance of sound quality! |
